The Next Door is dedicated to helping women in crisis,
equipping them to develop lives of wholeness and hope.

When a woman leaves incarceration, she is helpless, homeless, and sometimes hopeless. Where can she go? Who will help her with the resources she needs to build a new, whole and productive life, different than the way she was living before entering incarceration? How will she win the battle with substance  abuse and live in recovery from addiction? What is "the next door" for her to enter that new way of living after she leaves the prison doors behind?

The Next Door's Residential Transition Program provides women coming from incarceration who also have a history of substance abuse the opportunity to experience a six month structured curriculum designed to provide them help for re-entering society. The Residential Transition Program is offered through three locations in the State of Tennessee:

  • Nashville
  • Chattanooga
  • Knoxville.

Residents come to The Next Door's Residential Transition Program by referral and application to find:

  • Transitional Housing
  • Addiction Recovery Support Services
  • Individual and Group Counseling
  • Workforce Development Support
  • Case Management Services

The Next Door's mission is to address the mental, physical, and spiritual needs of women in crisis, equipping them for lives of wholeness and hope. The Residential Transition Centers in Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville have a combined capacity to serve up to 80 women at a time. In each location, The Next Door's Residential Transition Program seeks to prepare women for living independently, becoming productive members of their communities, and successfully reuniting with their families.
