New Program Provides Treatment Services at Tennessee Prison for Women
The Next Door Nashville is pleased to announce the launch of the Integrated Recovery Integrated Services (IRIS) Program. Serving women within the Tennessee Prison for Women (TPW), the IRIS Program's overall goal is to reduce recidivism rates among women with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. Services begin four to six months prior to release and continue four to six months after release. Through intensive, comprehensive clinical treatment, recovery support, transition planning and case management services, IRIS works with community behavioral health and recovery support service providers to facilitate the successful transition of incarcerated women back into the community.

The IRIS Program is a collaborative effort between The Next Door Nashville, the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, the Tennessee Department of Correction, and the Board of Probation and Parole. Funding for IRIS comes through a grant from the U.S. Bureau of Justice Assistance.

"The Board of Probation and Parole is focused on keeping communities safe," said BOPP Chairman Charles Traughber. "By getting female offenders with mental health or substance abuse needs into qualified treatment, we can help them address their issues so they can lead more productive lives as law-abiding, taxpaying citizens."
