The Next Door offers women hope to dream new dreams, to believe that life can be different, to know that God has a plan and purpose for their life that is good. We are “dedicated to helping women in crisis, equipping them for lives of wholeness and hope” through our original Residential Transition Center in Nashville and in expanded programs and services added over the past six years:
The Next Door Nashville Residential Transition Program
We have served 765 women since our first residents arrived in May 2004.
Since inception, 58% of the women served have stayed 90 days or longer; 21% have completed the six month program.
The recidivism rate for women completing the six month program is 14%; for women staying at least 90 days in the program it is 21%.
82% of residents find employment within 25 business days of admission.
Average number of days from admission to employment is 20.
Average hourly pay for residents is $7.53.
The Freedom Recovery Community, Nashville
The “FRC” is a permanent housing complex of 20 apartments with supportive services for women with co-occurring disorders (substance addiction and a mental health disorder) and their children.
The FRC celebrated its Third Anniversary in August 2010.
We are currently at capacity at the FRC, serving 19 residents and 17 children, with a waiting list of 16 women and 19 children.
Treatment Services, Nashville
Started in June 2010
Services offered include intensive outpatient treatment, social detoxification, outpatient case management, individual and group counseling for uninsured women with co-occurring disorders who have recently relapsed.
We have served 49 women since inception.
The Exodus Program
The Next Door partners with the Tennessee Department of Correction to provide group counseling and life skills classes three days each week for women within 18 months of release at the Tennessee Prison for Women in Nashville.
We have served 38 women since July 1, 2010.
Expansion Sites – Chattanooga and Knoxville Residential Transition Centers
Opening two new sites in 2010 doubled The Next Door’s statewide transitional housing capacity to 80 women at a time.
The Next Door Knoxville, opened in February 2010, has served 19 women since inception, including four women comprising our first “class” to complete the program.
The Next Door Chattanooga, opened in June 2010, has served 25 women since inception and expects to host its first Transition Ceremony celebrating women completing the program in January 2011.
